"Finally, clothes that will fit my little one for more than six months" we hear you cry! Our grow together top and skirt which can both be worn for up to three years have been designed to fulfil our ultimate goal - sustainable style. We spoke to our assistant garment technologist, Lauren, who came up with this amazing idea:

"After three years of learning about the importance of sustainable fashion at university, I was so excited when I was given the opportunity to put my knowledge to use.

Whilst I was working as an intern here at Kite Clothing, I was fascinated by children's clothing and how quickly little ones grow out of it."

"This led me to wonder how I could increase the longevity of clothes. Our garments can be worn and washed again and again, and also passed on to others once they no longer fit. However... could I design something that little ones didn't grow out of so quickly?

I reviewed several options before deciding to combine our high quality fabrics with some innovative product design techniques, to develop the growing concept."

"Proportionally, children grow up more than they grow out, and so our grow together skirt has hidden turn up button fastenings which mean it can be worn short or long, helping it to fit for up to three years. The simple but effective elasticated waistband stretches to fit comfortably as little ones grow.

Our grow together top has dropped shoulders to provide space for growth and adjustable sleeves that can be worn at three different lengths."

"I hope that the styles that I have designed bring as much joy and interest to others as they do to myself and the team here at Kite.

For parents, the designs provide planet-friendly clothing that fits for longer, offering great value for money, and they can still be passed on to others.

For children, this concept can feel a little bit like magic!"

And, by the way, Lauren impressed us so much whilst on her internship here at Kite last year that we offered her a full time job after she graduated this summer. She's already an important part of our small team and we're looking forward to lots more magic from Lauren in the future!
